Cold day in Vancouver

overcast 11 °C

" May this sculpture inspire laughter playfulness and joy in all who experience it "

These fellows (not Ian) were sculpted for the winter olympics in Vancouver.

Note the tree growing on the top of the buiding in the background. You don't see that everyday !

Butchart gardens and the Hobbit house

The Butchart Gardens on Vancouver Island were unbelieveable. The main garden was a limestone quarry which was gradually developed into the spectacle we see today. Note the "Ross Fountain", "Kathy Tulips" and "Moss Animals"!

The Hobbit House was built by a homesick lady from New Zealand.

We are off to the Rockies tomorrow.

Some of the trip to Banff. 1000 km of bus travel and still not in the Rockies. About 6 or 7 mountain ranges to pass through or over to get there.

Went up many rivers with a railway line not far away. Real Western Movie country.

The photos don't do it justice. Absolutely magnificent scenery.
